Throwback Jerseys

The throwback football jersey as it has become to be known is the style of uniform and jersey to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the NFL. However, it is not just jersey styles of 75 years ago. Many teams in the NFL are not that old and so they do not have a style to fall back upon. Rather it has come to be simply an older style of the team jersey that gets refered to as a throwback jersey.

Depending upon the team, the marketing arms of the teams and the nfl, a team may use different eras as their throwback jersey in a particular season. One thing for certain, none of the teams will revert and use leather helmets for a game.

Throwback jerseys are very popular and have to be added to your wardrobe if you are a serious fan. Along with special 'third' jerseys which are sometimes referred to as the throwback jersey, you have to get one of your favorite player!

Old NFL

Many of the old nfl teams did not have logos on their helmets and only had numbers on the front and back of their jerseys. The sleeves were plain and did not have any numerals on them as this practice came into vogue with television broadcasts and made it easier for the announcers and viewers to determine who was in a particular play.
