New York Jets Jerseys

The New York Jets play in the Eastern Division of the American Football Conference (AFC) in the National Football League. The Jets are based in the metropolitan area of New York and play their home games at the East Rutherford, NJ Giants Stadium. They are the first AFL team to defeat an NFL team, the Baltimore Colts, in an AFL-NFL World Championship Game at Super Bowl III.

The team came into existence in 1960, but was a charter member of the AFL and were called the New York Titans. Renamed in 1963, the team joined the NFL as part of an AFL-NFL Merger. One of the most famous players in NFL history, Joe Namath, joined the team in 1967. Formerly an Alabama quarterback, Namath took the Jets to an 8-5-1 record, passing for 4007 yards. He was the first pro quarterback to pass for that many yards in any season. With Namath quarterbacking the team, the Jets hit the top of the AFL and represented their league in Super Bowl III. Joe Namath was named Player of the Year but injuries caused him to miss most of the 1970, 1971 and 1973 seasons. Unfortunately serious knee problems got worse and in 1976 he was traded to the Los Angeles Rams and after only 4 games with his new team, he announced his retirement.

The team last year had a great star in Brett Favre, who had one of his best games against the Arizona Cardinals. The Jets did not make the playoffs but produced some great games. Jets fans are loyal to the team and date back to the Joe Namath days as one of the strongest fan bases. In his green and white uniform with a green airplane that included the word "JETS" on the side, Namath made the team colors symbolic to the Jets. Often called "Gang Green" because of their green team color, the team wears green pants with their white jerseys on the road. All white is worn for home games. Simply green and white, the Jets uniform is clean and concise just like its players.

40th Celebration

To commemorate their 40th anniversary, the Jets team players wore a commemorative Super Bowl III patch on their left chests to honor their 1968 championship team. The team held a halftime ceremony to honor many of the championship alumni. Jets fans are loyal and devoted. Joe Namath fans remember his grace and how hard he played even through his injuries. Fans from back in the day, are still fans today, supporting their team in the name of Joe Namath and all the great players that have come after him. Go green and white, long live the Jets!
