First Jerseys
In 1960 the Broncos debuted and their uniforms were not pretty by any means. Brown helmets and pants with white and mustard yellow jerseys and striped socks eventually were replaced and a public bonfire was held to burn those terrible striped socks. Fans and the press vilified the Denver Broncos debut uniforms.
The new logo and uniform in 1962 was a bucking horse and the team colors of orange, blue, and white. The first incarnation of this uniform was white pants, orange helmets and either orange or white jerseys.
Again in 1968 the logo got an overhaul which made the horse appear to be coming out of a "D". The helmets also changed to blue and stripes and other modifications were made to the uniform and for a while the Broncos stuck with this look including orange pants and white jerseys. This look was known as the "Orange Crush", so named for coach Red Miller's "Orange Crush Defense".
In 1997 the Denver Broncos made a radical change and this is the uniform and logo design they still use today. The logo is a horse's head. The New jerseys are navy blue with a streak of orange down the side and white jerseys with a streak of blue down the side. Home and road uniforms and alternate with the white jerseys and have a streak of orange on the blue jersey and blue on the white jersey. The new pants are blue with orange stripes for home games, and the road white pants with a blue stripe. This new look was not a fan favorite until the Broncos won their first ever Super Bowl during the first season of the new look.
From their ugly mustard and brown uniforms at the teams inception to the up to date and modern blue orange and white uniforms the Broncos have not only evolved fashion wise but also as a team through the years. With four Hall of Famers including John Elway, Willie Brown and Gary Zimmerman and a new crop of players for the 2009 season the Denver Broncos have not only past success but a future at the top of the NFL.
