There were a total of 8 team franchises and two were added later; one in 1966 and the other in 1968. In 1970, these ten teams merged into the NFL and comprise part of the current AFC, American Football Conference. Team JerseysThe 1960 Boston Patriots, coached by Lou Saban, home jerseys were red, with blue and white stripes on the shoulder and white numbers. The 1960 Buffalo Bills team colors were royal blue, white, and silver. They wore blue jerseys with gray numbers and white jerseys with blue numbers. In 1960, the Dallas Texans, coached by Hank Stram, led by owner Lamar Hunt, chose red and gold for their jerseys. The Denver Broncos had some of the ugliest jerseys and uniforms when they debuted in 1960. Brown helmets, brown pants, white and mustard yellow jerseys, and vertically striped socks. The Oil Derrick was the Houston Oilers logo in 1960 and their uniforms consisted of a light blue or white jerseys with red trim, and white pants. White jerseys had the light blue numbers while the blue tops had white numbers. The Oakland Raiders original uniforms were black and gold, while the helmets were black with a white stripe and no logo. In 1963, the new general manager and head coach changed the colors to silver and black. With the exception of subtle changes to the logo, the Miami Dolphins jerseys and colors have remained the same since 1966. Aqua and orange. The Cincinnati Bengals (1968) had a black jersey with one orange stripe surrounded by two white stripes on the sleeve. The white Bengals jersey had an orange stripe surrounded by black stripes on each sleeve. This jersey remained unchanged through 1979.
