NFL Jersey
Upon entering the NFL the red jersey added 3 white stripes and the helmets changed to silver. Over time the jersey numbers were given a black trim, the helmets became read with a silver strips, and white stripes were added to the red socks of the uniform. Then the trim was taken off of the jersey numbers and the pants got a solid red stripe. Yet another change was made when the helmets became gold, with gold pants, the jerseys and socks remained the same.
For the 1994 season as the NFL celebrated its 75th anniversary many teams wore throwbackjerseys to honor the history of the sport and the organization. The 49ers wore white pants with thin red-black-red striping, red socks with white stripes, and simplified numerals on the jerseys.
In February of 2009 the 49ers announced that they would be showing off new uniforms this season. The new uniforms are much like the classic design with several changes. The jerseys feature angled sleeve stripes for shorter jersey sleeves, the TVnumerals on top of the shoulder pad area, and a darker shade of red. The helmets have the oval SF logo and the stripes are in a red-white-red classic order. Team socks are still solid red but in the new brighter red shade of the team. Players Patrick Willis, Josh Morgan, Dashon Goldson, Joe Staley, and Moran Norris displayed the new uniforms at the 49ers draft party.
Whether they play in new uniforms or old designs the San Francisco 49ers have a long history of making the game exciting for fans and challengers alike, and show no signs of stopping, hoping to make 2009 another championship year. With Hall of Fame linebacker Mike Singletary as head coach for 2009 the 49ers will have someone with first hand knowledge of the game and how to work as a team to lead them to victory.
