Except for minor changes the Saints logo and uniforms have been much the same since their debut in 1967. The teams logo is a fleur-de-lis and the uniforms are gold helmets with gold pants and either black or white jerseys. Small changes to the uniform stripes and trim have been made through the years.
In 1957 when the team moved from Tulane Stadium to the Superdome the uniform changed to include white pants. A year after the move they added black pants to the uniform.
For several years in the late 80's and early 90's the sleeves and sides of the uniform pants had a fleur-de-lis logo inside and outline of the state if Louisiana. This logo replaced the stripes that were originally on the uniform.
In 1996 the logo was removed and replaced with a fleur-de-lis on both the jersey sleeves and the side of the pants.
An alternate jersey in gold which was worn with the black pants appeared for one game in 2002.
For 2006 the Saints wore a patch on the uniform similar to the old logo of a fleur-de-lis and an outline of Louisiana. This patch was to honor the teams return to Louisiana and the Superdome after Hurricane Katrina.
In the 2008 season the team mostly wore black uniforms.
The New Orleans Saints are a team that has faced a lot of challenges and even the loss of their city for a while. They are prepared and ready for the 2009 season, maybe this will be the year that the Saints finally make it to the Super Bowl.
