Silver & Blue Jersey
The Lions uniforms consisting of silver helmets and silver pants with either blue or white jerseys have been much the same throughout the years. There have been minor changes over the seasons such as changing the stripe pattern on the jersey sleeves and changing jersey number colors. A white outline was added to the logo of a leaping blue lion.
In 1994 many of the teams in the NFL wore "throwback" jerseys to honor the 75th anniversary of the NFL. The Lions chose solid silver pants and helmets with blue jerseys and silver numbers. They also wore solid blue socks with black shoes and had no "TV" numbers on the sleeves. The helmets were logo free due to the fact that the 50's style uniforms included leather helmets.
The alternate field jersey for the Detroit Lions is also a throwback uniform in honor of the Detroit Lions 75th year as a team in 2008, that is set to be the permanent alternate in 2009 replacing a former black alternate.
Also new for 2009 is the new Lions logo and helmet which features a flowing mane and fangs as well as an updated font. Now that the Detroit Lions have updated their uniforms, logo and helmets lets hope that they can pull together as a team and have a successful 2009 season to go along with their new look.
