Vintage Style Uniforms
Since 1946 the Cleveland Browns uniform has been mostly the same, except for a deviation to silver pants in the 50's, a third orange jersey, and some changes in the stripes on the socks, uniforms and helmets.
While the helmet has gone through many revisions including the transition from the leather helmet to the modern version, color changes and indecision about logos, the original design of the jerseys, pants, and socks have remained much the same.
The Browns Jerseys of brown with white numbers and a white-orange-white stripe on the sleeves, or white with brown numbers and a brown-orange-brown stripe on the sleeves. The Cleveland Browns uniform pants are white with an orange-brown-orange stripe on the sides and the socks are either brown or white with stripes that match the stripe pattern on the jerseys.
There have been period when the Browns have worn white for their home games which has been somewhat odd since most of the teams that wear white for home games are in hotter climates. Since 1999 the team mostly wears white, brown and orange jerseys at home.
One addition to the Cleveland Browns uniform was the addition of the initials "AL" on the sleeves in 2002 in memory of team owner Al Lerner who passed away in 2002.
For the first time in team history in 2008 the Browns wore brown pants for a preseason game against the New York Giants, these pants were designed as an option for away games, but they have not been worn in any regular season games.
The Cleveland Browns have a long history in and before the NFL, and are showing no signs of being ready to quit. The "Dawg Pound" where the visible and enthusiastic Browns fans sit, stays full and loud. While it has been a while since the Browns won a championship, 2009 could be a very good year for the team.
Calling all members of the dawg pound, buy your football jerseys now and get ready to party in 2009.
