Uniform, Jersey, Helmet, Logo
The Carolina Panthers logo features the head of a snarling black panther with a blue outline; the shape of the logo resembles the combined borders of the states that the Panthers represent.
Silver helmets that have undergone a slight tone change to a more metallic shade are what the Panthers use to protect their heads and faces.
The team has two basic uniforms which include silver pants with black jerseys, or white pants with white jerseys. Both colors of jersey have blue shoulder stripes. An alternate uniform was introduced in 2002 that is a blue jersey with black shoulder stripes.
The traditional home uniform includes that white jersey which leaves their opponents to wear their dark uniforms in the heat of a Charlotte autumn.
The silver and black color of the Panthers uniforms was the cause of a lawsuit in 2003 by the Oakland Raiders. The Raiders claimed that the NFL and the Panthers had infringed upon trademark elements of the Raiders; brand. The Raiders also included the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the lawsuit and wanted the courts to keep those teams from wearing their uniforms while playing in California. Because the Raiders filed the suit in the court of the State of California, the suit was dismissed because intellectual properties can only be argued in a federal court.
After 14 amazing years as an NFL team the Panthers have had several notable players including pro wrestler Bill Goldberg and young talent Jake Delhomme, they have made it to the Super Bowl and made a name for themselves in an organization where most of the teams have been around in some form or another since the 1950's. The 2009 lineup and the plans that the coach has for the team should lead to many more successful games for the Carolina Panthers.
