Jerseys, Uniforms, Logo, Colors
The initial uniform consisted of white pants with either black or white jerseys. In the beginning the falcon crest was on the jersey sleeves but was removed and replaced by a red and white stripe pattern.
In the 1970's the Falcons switched from black to red jerseys and began to wear silver pants instead of the white.
Another change occurred in the 1990's as the team switched to black helmets, silver pants and black or white jerseys. The numbers on the white jerseys were changed to red.
In 2003 there were major changes in both the Falcons' logo and uniforms. Redesigned with red and silver accents the logo now depicts a powerful and aggressive flacon which also closely resembles the letter "F".
The black helmets remained, but the new uniforms featured black or white jerseys with black or white pants with red trim. Also in 2003 an alternate jersey of red with black trim was introduced and the Falcons began wearing black shoes as well.
For the 2004 season the alternate red jerseys became the primaries, with black becoming the alternate. Primarily the white pants are worn with the red and white jerseys, and over the past three seasons the Atlanta Falcons wore all black for several home games.
Heading into the 2009 season with Coach Mike Smith and players such as D.J. Shockley, Vernon Haynes, and Todd McClure the Atlanta Falcons should have the potential, the history and the players to have a great season, which will lead to many more successful seasons to come. Being in the NFL is a challenge for all the teams involved as they all struggle and fight their way to get to the top.
