Jersey, Uniforms
For most of its history the Cardinals have used the same basic uniform of white helmets, white pants with red strips and either red or white football jerseys.
The first logo to appear on a Cardinals helmet was a cardinal head that was added in 1960 when the team moved from Chicago to St. Louis. When the team moved to Arizona in 1988 the flag of Arizona was added to the sleeves of their jerseys. In 1990, the Cardinals began wearing red pants with the white jerseys.
The logo and uniforms got a major update in 2005. The cardinal head was made to look sleek and menacing, since opponents of the Cardinals tended to refer to their old logo as a parakeet. The uniforms received an update as well with black added as an accent color, and trim was added to the jerseys and pants. Also, the red and white jerseys have the option of being worn with either the red or white pants.
When the Cardinals were featured in the Madden NFL video game the team was shown in the all red combo for home games and all white for road games.
The Cardinals have a rich and varied history that spans different cities, different organizations, different owners and varying levels of success with each season. As the 2009 season begins, no matter what the end record it all fans should remember that the Cardinals have fought long and hard and produced more than a dozen of the members of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
